GAME PLAY
The game has 3 rounds, each followed by scoring. Players look at their hands and choose 1 of the cards to put face down on the table at the same time. Once all players have made their selection each player declares what their choice was and flips it in front of them forming a reef.
After all players say what they had, they place their remaining cards in front of the next player. On rounds 1 and 3 play goes clockwise. On round 2 play goes counterclockwise.
After announcing the cards, players pick up the new hand in front of them. This new hand should have exactly 1 less card than the previous round.
NOTE: Face-up cards reef remains with you and is not passed with the rest of the cards and remains until scoring when it is discarded(except coral).
PLAYING SHARKS
If you pick a clown, puffer or angler fish card, and already have a shark card in your reef then this fish must be placed on top of the shark. This indicates that the fish has been eaten by the shark and is worth 3 times as much as the original fish!
NOTE: You can have more than one shark card in front of you but each shark can only each one fish.
TURTLES
If there is a turtle in your reef, you may take two cards on a future turn.
When you want to use that ability choose 2 cards instead of one from your hand to place face down. Take the turtle out of the tableau and place it back into the hand before passing it.
NOTE: It is possible that you may have more than 1 turtle in your reef but you may only use this ability once per turn.
ENDING A ROUND
The last card in each hand is placed face up as soon as it is received and no decision takes place. Hopefully the other player had to pass you something good.
At this point everyone's reef scores points
SCORING
SEASTARS
Each player sums up the seastars at the top of all their seastar cards in their reef. The player with the most seastars earns 6 points. If more than one player tie for the most, they split the 6 points evenly (discarding the remainder). In this case no second place is awarded.
The player with the second most seastars earns 3 points. If multiple players tie for second place, they split the points evenly (discarding the remainder).
JELLIES
A set of 2 tempura cards earns 5 points.
A single jelly card is worth nothing. You may score multiple sets of tempura in a round.
SEAHORSES
A set of 3 seahorses cards earns 10 points.
A 1 or 2 seahorse card(s) are worth no points. You may score multiple sets of seahorses if you can manage it.
DOLPHINS
The more dolphin cards you have, the more points you will earn, as follows:
Dolphins: 1 2 3 4 5 or more
Points: 1 3 6 10 15
FISH AND SHARKS
A anglerfish earns 3 points.
If it is on top of a shark card it earns 9 points.
A pufferfish earns 2 points.
If it is on top of a shark card it earns 6 points.
A clown fish earns 1 point.
If it is on top of a shark card it earns 3 points.
A shark card with no fish on it scores nothing.
TURTLES
Turtle cards earn no points. It's not easy being green.
STARTING A NEW ROUND
• Announce your scores from the previous round for the scorekeeper to record.
• Discard your reef cards beside the draw pile. The only exceptions are coral cards which you keep in your reef to be scored at the game's end.
• If it is the first or second scoring round every player is dealt another hand of cards equal to the amount that they had in at the beginning of the last hand.
Remember that the 2nd round has players pass their cards COUNTERCLOCKWISE.
If it was the end of third round, proceed to the end of the game.
END OF GAME
Now it's time to score the final part of the reef. Coral cards are now scored.
CORAL
The player who has accumulated the most pudding cards scores 6 points. If more than one players are ties for the most, the points earned are split evening discarding any remaining points.
Any player with or tied with the fewest coral cards (including players with 0) subtracts 6 points from their score.
When playing a 2 player game no player loses points for the least, only points for the most are earned.
The player the has the most points after all 3 rounds wins. In case of a tie, whoever has the most coral cards wins.
